Amazon.com Product Description
Tote it to the office, take it in the car--the Axion AXN-7080 LCD television and DVD player combo unit puts a world of entertainment at your fingertips. The toaster-like top-loading DVD slot helps the set maintain its portrait-thin profile--just 2 inches thick without its table stand. A remote control simplifies operation from your desk or couch.

The AXN-7080's standard aspect ratio (4:3) matches most broadcast TV programs, and the set is cable-ready with a 181-channel NTSC tuner. (It's set up for VHF/UHF broadcast reception, too.) The set's picture is enhanced by its vivid (300:1) contrast ratio and luminous peak brightness of 300 candles per square meter.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning.

Connections include a standard composite-video input (switchable to work as a composite-video output for home use) with accompanying stereo RCA analog audio jacks--ideal for plugging in a video-game console or a camcorder when you're on the road. A stereo earphone jack affords private listening, and the monitor also offers built-in stereo speakers for desktop enjoyment.

What's in the Box
TV/DVD combo, a removable table stand, a remote control, remote batteries, an AC/DC power adapter, a DC vehicle power adapter, a user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

No Antenna Reception2
This is a great little portable tv if you will be using it with cable outlet or DVD. I strongly do not recommend this tv if you plan to use it with an antenna. We originally bought the tv to use while camping in places where we don't always have cable access. We can't even pick up our local channels in our home using the best antennas money could buy. Called customer service and they were very unhelpful...told us that if the tv picked up cable channels, then there was nothing wrong with the tv reception. Cust Serv continued to tell us that we had poor reception in our home. However, we pick up all local channels with every other tv in our home using the same antennas we tried with this tv. I am going to send this tv back while it is still under warranty!

Perfect for my needs5
In spite of some of the poor reviews for this product, it met all of my expectations 100%. Thanks to the reviews, I understood that the unit doesn't have a builtin antenna or batteries, which was helpful to know in advance. But of course the specifications never claimed those features in the first place.

I was looking for a small TV to fit in the corner of my bathroom, and this unit is perfect for that. As a bonus, I can not only watch the news while I'm getting ready for work in the morning, but I can listen to MP3 rips when I'm in the shower. I've owned the unit for several weeks now, use it every day, and have never had a problem playing any disk, either copy-protected movies or CDs. My only concern so far has been that I didn't receive a warrantee card with the unit.

I especially like the portability. It's so easy to pick up and take anywhere, such as watching a movie in bed, and even outside (if it's not too bright out) for watching sports on the patio. The speakers are adequate, considering their size, and the headphone jack lets me either use headphones or external amplified speakers if I want better quality.

In summary, I have to repeat that my expectations were set before I bought the unit and I am very pleased with what I got for the price.

The unit did not function as a television1
I bought this item to function as both a television and DVD player, and to replace my old, bulky Action (aka Axion) 5 inch TV. But the Axion TV/DVD would not operate as a TV because it never received about half of the broadcast channels in my area. I never tested the DVD player function.

I do not have cable or direct TV. The 3 TVs in my home receive all thirteen (13) local broadcast channels with the aid of indoor antennas, or, in the case of the 5-inch Action TV, via its built-in monopole antenna. So I was surprised when the Axion TV/DVD could not receive channels.

The Axion TV/DVD does not appear to have a built-in antenna. If it does, it is not visible. Without an antenna, it received about 2 of the 13 available channels, but poorly. I tried every possible indoor antenna I could find (Radio Shack was very gracious with all my returns). I returned the first unit and tried a second unit, thinking the first was defective, and again tried various antennas. I tried other locations for the TV/DVD. But at best I could only get about half of the 13 channels to be viewable, even with the best indoor antenna. I even called Axion itself, and they could not help. So I returned the second unit for a full refund.

If Axion ever builds a similar TV/DVD player with a similar price that has decent TV reception, I would give it another try because the price and small size are great.
