This Cinema Series television uses Toshiba's TheaterShield Plus, an improved version of the acrylic shield the company uses to protect its screens. This additional layer reduces reflectivity by over 50 percent and improves the set's overall contrast.

TheaterBright uses a double lenticular (two-lens) projection configuration, combining a Fresnel lens and a fine-pitch (0.72 millimeter) BlackStripe screen. The screen is tinted for increased contrast, and Toshiba has incorporated a surface layer diffuser, which concentrates the tinting on a thinner layer of the screen's surface. The result is a high-resolution, high-brightness, and--with TheaterShield Plus--high-contrast screen.

In the audio department, the set works either as a monitor in conjunction with your surround receiver and speakers, or as a self-contained audio-video entity, boasting 15 watts per channel through front-firing stereo speakers. Toshiba's Sub Bass System (SBS) ensures dramatic low-end performance with movies and music videos, and MTS Stereo/SAP (with dbx surround sound) delivers impressive broadcast audio. A center-channel audio input lets you enjoy 5.1-channel surround even if you have surround speakers but lack external front left, center, and right speakers. I purchase this as my first big screen ,and after looking @ hdtv i notice the cost of this tv is by far the best in price and quality..Everytime i watch movies on this tv i'm more impressed with each viewing..to anyone thinking of buying a big screen; seriously consider this one @ the top of your list..******

Great TV
Until I move on to a HDTV this TV will suffice very well. The picture quality is excellent and watching my digital Direct TV system gives me a very nice picture. I have movie nights at my house with the suround sound setup and everyone is throughly impressed with the picture quality and size...

Best projeection tv for the money
Picture Quality is Superb,stero sound is good to very good.Remote control layout is also good to very good,but wish the bottom of remote was flat,so it would be less likely,to roll off the arms of furniture.The many hookups is a plus,with the convience of front audio and video hookups.Setup was fairly easy with the owners manual,with easy on screeen menu's which are selected with the remote control.Overall after reseaching and comparing features,with the other brands,Toshiba,was a standout value for the money.
